Bible Journaling by Patty Folchert

I am excited to share with you today a new way to use your scrapbooking/card making supplies. Bible Journaling is a new trend that has grown over the last couple of years and I made a couple pages to show you how easy it is to utilize your stamps to achieve a similar design. With these pages I used the new Jillibean Soup Bowl of Dreams stamp set and lots of stickers and an alphabet.

Bible Journaling by Patty Folchert

The bible verse I chose to highlight is Psalms 91:4, it has always brought me comfort to know that God is my protector and watches over me. When I create Bible journaling pages I highlight a verse on the left side with a word defined at the bottom and then I select a current Christian song that speaks to me in regards to the verse for the right side. So Kutless’ Strong Tower was the song I chose and it was then added to the right side with lyrics from their song that demonstrate to me God’s protection. God is my strong tower and a shelter over me, those words fill my heart with comfort and hope.

However you can format your pages however you like, it is about freely expressing your bible study in an art form that speaks to you.

First of all there is no right or wrong way to journal in your Bible. There are literally countless ways to do it, with journaling pens, colored pencils, paints, stickers, washi tapes, stamps, you name it and you can most likely try it. With these two pages I tried to keep it simple by using only journaling pen, stickers and stamps. Starting out I used a pencil to sketch out my ideas and plan for where I would use letter stickers. Then I did my stamping, I used gray ink and blue ink on the arrows and a combination of blue and yellow on the feathers with some yellow hearts added in at the end. The stamps allow me to add fun designs without having to draw them myself, such as the feathers, I just stamped them and then outlined them with the journaling pen. Next I adhered the letter stickers and traced over the pencil sketches with a journaling pen. I added a crown diecut to emphasize the word King and it was adhered with a tape runner. Several stickers were used as shown, a couple as words for the lyrics and a couple for decoration. That was all, think of it as doodling with a spiritual purpose.

If you think you might like Bible journaling I encourage you to give it a try. To be able to bring my spiritual self and creative self together has really been a joyful experience for me.

Blessed to Create,
Patty Folchert
