Special Thankful Project by designer Leanne Allinson

Hello everyone!  This month, I've been playing around with a seasonal, off the page, project.  My aim was to create a wall hanging using Mix the Media Wood Plank and a few branches found while out and about in our local neighborhood.

Jillibean Soup patterned papers are so beautiful to work with that I can easily combine several collections together and still have my project looking cohesive.  Those of you in the Northern Hemisphere are entering a time of beautiful orange and yellow coloring.  But, here is the Southern Hemisphere, we are also enjoying the seasonal change!  My color choices in paper reflect a universal outlook between the two seasons.  While I have predominantly included yellow and orange hues, the touch of blue freshens the project, injecting Spring into my home decor.

Firstly, we need to gather the supplies, including a few twiggy branches and the Jillibean Soup Mix the Media 12 x 12 Wood Plank.  Layer the branches diagonally across the Wood Plank surface.  Once you are happy with the positioning, use a hot glue gun (very carefully!!) to secure the branches in place.  The branches I had used already had fallen to the ground and were quite aged and dry.

Next, I punched several 1-inch and 2-inch circles from the Jillibean Soup patterned paper collection.  I even punched circles from the Stampable Mini Woodgrain bags!

Once you have enough varied patterned paper circles, using a hole punch, I placed a single hole near the top of each circle.  The small hole allows you to loop a thread through the hole to then secure it to your tree branch.

I have also used different colored Jillibean Soup Baker's Twine to add that extra bit of texture to the wall hanging.  To complete the project, randomly loop the circles to the secured branches.  Add as many or as few circles you desire to the home decor.

As an added bonus, you can ask your family and friends to add notes to your tree, detailing what they are thankful for over the season.

Thankful Gift bag by designer Patty Folchert

Thanksgiving is my mother’s favorite holiday. So I try to help make it extra special by making her a small hostess gift each year. This cute burlap sack with some fun embellishments let’s someone know you are truly thankful for them. Using Jillibean Soup papers, embellishments and clear stamps you can recreate this project yourself.

Thankful Gift bag by Patty Folchert

First I chose three complementary papers to make the banner pieces, the ones I chose were from Summer Red Raspberry Soup and Soup Staples III. Next I stamped the “Thankful for You” sentiment onto the Wood Floor paper in brown ink. Then I stamped the heart square in brown ink directly onto the banner wood veneer. Using the brown ink pad I just rubbed the butterfly across to color it.

Then I added stitching to the biggest banner piece and the sentiment banner piece. Next I layered them all together with adhesive and 3D foam dots as shown. Last I added a lovely glass style button from a Ephemera Pack, using yellow embroidery floss to thread it.

There it is, a sweet way to show your thankfulness this fall season.

Share the Blessings,
Patty Folchert

Beauty Gifts in a Jar by designer Gail Lindner

Designer Gail Lindner created a 'spa-in-a-jar' type gift by starting with one of the more 'fancy' jars that was perfect for a girly gift.
Tucked inside this jar are some hand lotion and fragrance miniatures.  I tied a soft organza bow on the top of the jar and added a tag.
I love creating tags like these to add to gifts!  It's a matter of layering papers, textures and shapes.  The sentiment stickers make it a fast project too!  Here's a closer look at the tag, the back of which is perfect for writing your sentiment on.

Happy Thanksgiving card by designer Patty Folchert

Well it is that time of the year, time to get cozy and be thankful for all of our blessings. Here is a homespun card with some rustic appeal courtesy of Jillibean Soup papers and stamps.

Happy Thanksgiving card by Patty Folchert

This card began with the weathered wood background paper (Soup Staples III/Kraft Triangles), I added stamped “Thanksgiving” and “xoxo” in brown ink on a diagonal as shown.

Then I added the border strips in layered Orange Salt and Wood Floor across the top. Then I added some vintage gold twine around those layers as shown. Next I grabbed the quilt star from the New Sweet Sunshine Soup collection and added some yellows, oranges and greens to enhance my Thanksgiving theme. Then from that same collection I cut out the “Happy” embroidery hoop and clipped them together with a clothespin. I tied the gold twine around the clothespin too for a little shimmer. Last I added some of the brand new Jillibean Soup adhesive sequins in yellow, perfect finishing touch.
So is just another example of how stamping can enhance almost any card. Best wishes to you and your families for a blessed Thanksgiving.
Thankful,
Patty Folchert
