Once in a while we encounter a couple that has struggled to have their own child. In my case the two were friends of ours from church camp and had come down a difficult road of disappointments prior to the successful arrival of their beautiful baby girl, Emma. So I wanted to make a very special card to celebrate the blessed event, in fact her arrival just happened to occur during church camp this summer. So I reached for the adorable Echo Park Bundle of Joy stamp set and paired it with some Bella Boulevard papers in pinks and yellows.
Precious Baby card by Patty Folchert
I started by selecting the yellow chevron as the card base, then I picked out which stamps I wanted to use and stamped them in pink ink. Then I matted the little girl sayings stamped image with yellow paper first, then the flower patterned paper and then finally the pink hearts paper which I used a decorative corner rounder on. Then above the first image I built a topper beginning with a washi tape border in yellow chevron and then layering the five other stamped images. The two banner pieces first and then the two smaller flowers then finally one large flower stamped image in the center. At that point I added a crochet heart and butterfly sugar pick. All that was left was to add a small white ribbon bow and a couple pink gemstones centers to the two smaller flowers.
I think it turned out fit for a princess, and just perfect for them.Stamps

Ready, Set, Grow! card by Patty Folchert
First I stamped the seed packet image in brown ink onto Leek Bulbs paper and then I distressed the edges. Then I added the vintage string bow around the seed packet. After that I added a thin mat in Baby Carrots paper popped up with foam dots onto a layer of burlap to add some dimension. The last mat is the Chicken Base paper which I adhered onto the card base of Sea Salt paper. To create the border banner across the bottom use the other side of the Sea Salt paper to make a banner piece with Baby Carrots paper layered in the center. The sentiment was stamped in brown ink onto the Leek Bulb paper and cut out. The green pearls were an afterthought, but just what the card needed for the finishing touch with a pop of my favorite color, green.
“Ready, Set – Give it a go” and have some fun creating this vintage layered card.

Cool Guy Pinwheels by Patty Folchert
The pinwheels are such a fun and easy embellishment to make. Tutorials are all over the internet if you have never had the chance to learn, look one up and give it a try. You will need five pinwheels to make this bouquet; mine were in three different sizes. The pinwheels were attached to skewer sticks, varying the lengths of a few. Next I stamped three images from the Scoot stamp set in black ink onto patterned papers: You are Amazing & Cool Guy on to Scores of Smores and No. 1 on to Bite Size Bits. I cut them out and set them aside. Using foam dots I added the two stamped images to two different pinwheels centers. Then I used punched circles and buttons to embellish the centers of the other three pinwheels.

Columbus Zoo layout by Patty Folchert
Today I bring you a layout commemorating a favorite summer activity for our family, a trip to the zoo. We are blessed to have an amazing zoo here in Columbus, Ohio. So it is always a special treat to spend a day there exploring. This layout had room for four photos and even a cool stamped banner. The new Jillibean Soup Happy Camper Stew line was perfect for what I had in mind. Add in the Hampton Art/Echo Park- All About a Boy stamp set and it all harmonizes very well.
Do you ever feel stumped when you sit down to create a layout? Sketches are a wonderful jump start in these situations; this layout was based on a sketch by the incredible Scrapbook Generations team. I wanted to share a layout that allowed the stamps to really shine and this one seemed to have just the right combination. So I dived right in and followed the sketch recipe with a few extra additions of my own. The background is yellow cardstock; the main square is Dash of Danger paper. The photo mats are cut from Scores of Smores paper and 4 Parts of Adventures papers. The semicircles banner was stamped onto white cardstock in blue and green ink using the dial circle stamp from the set and then cut in half. I popped up every other semicircle with foam dots and then embellished each with a button.
The little red “play” pennant banner layered nicely on top of the far right photo .The four banners hanging from the top were cut from Happy Camper Stew papers as well in varying widths and lengths. Then I added the years date to the yellow banner on biggest photo with number stickers. The title began with corrugated letters with a banner piece layered over top with “Columbus” spelled out in letter stickers. To add emphasis I stamped one end of the banner piece with the arrow game piece stamp in red ink, finally one red gemstone finishes the effect.
I love using stamps to make custom embellishments for layouts and it is very cost effective. So take a new look at your stamp stash and think about how they might interpret into layout embellishments. Then just have fun experimenting with different ink colors and adaptations, you just might surprise yourself!
