Be The Reason layout by Patty Folchert

Be the reason someone smiles today is the die cut theme of today’s layout. Featuring my smiling children’s faces and Jillibean Soup papers and stamps.

Be The Reason layout by Patty Folchert

So when you use stamps on a layout it doesn’t need to be an obvious addition, it can be more subtle like today’s layout. I used another Silhouette cut file from Jillibean Soup to make the circular saying and then backed it with the gray patterned paper. Next I cut the circle mat from coral text paper and inked the edges with antique pewter ink. Then I wrote out the journal card from the Bite size Bits paper. Next I added the mats to the photos as shown.

The only stamping is the date, the heart on love die cut, xoxo tab and missing you sentiment. All were stamped in gray ink. Then I added some wood veneers, the white tag and die cuts as you see them.

I really like the end result of this one, let me know what you think. May you be blessed with lots of smiles today.

Happy Creating,
Patty Folchert

Celebrate Today card by Patty Folchert

There is cause for celebration today because I get to share a simple die cut card with you. This card uses two different Jillibean soup stamp sets and a silhouette cut file. Did you know that Jillibean Soup has lots and lots of cut files available on the Silhouette website?

Celebrate Today card by Patty Folchert

The cut file I used is available on Silhouette website under Jillibean Soup/Today. I enlarged it a bit and cut it out using woodgrain paper. Then I stamped a background panel in rose and yellow using the Bowl of Dreams stamp set. Next I stamped a yellow flower onto small rectangle and added the Celebrate sentiment in brown ink as shown. I attached them to the card with the fun glasses wood clothespin.

Last I added the cotton twine double bow. This card would work for any type of celebration and would be easy to switch to a masculine card by using the feather stamps in this same set and stamp in blue and green inks.

Celebrate Spring,
Patty Folchert

Create Happy card by Patty Folchert

Donuts anyone? Here is a card full of them, brought to you by a Jillibean Soup stamp set and papers.

Create Happy card by Patty Folchert

The white base started with two paper mats, one in blue gingham and one in yellow stars to mimic the star die cut to be used with sentiment. Then the donuts were stamped in brown ink onto watercolor paper. Once the ink was dry I painted each don’t a bright color. Then I adhered the donut panel to the yellow mat as shown. Next I pulled the sentiment and star from a mini placemat set. Last I added a music note paperclip.

Now this card can create happiness for someone else, because who doesn’t love donuts? Have a great week!

Happiness to All,
Patty Folchert

Bring on the Happy Gift Card Holder by Patty Folchert

Are you in need of a gift card holder for a Graduation or Birthday? Here is an easy one made with scraps and a glassine bag and the Souper Celebration stamp set from Jillibean Soup.

Bring on the Happy Gift Card Holder by Patty Folchert

The base came together with two triangles and a border strip of three different patterned papers. Then I machine stitched the border strip in place for a little added texture. Next I stamped the sentiment with Souper Celebration stamps in blue and gray ink. Then I attached the glassine bag with the crazy cute pup on it with patterned paper slid down inside (only because I haven’t bought a gift card yet). Then I grabbed a Day2Day sunshine paperclip and two Bowl of Dreams die cuts and added as shown. I inked the edges of the sentiment square and attached it to the gingham paper mat.

A fun way to share a gift for any happy occasion. The Souper Celebration stamp set is full of fun images including a llama and an alligator, and it has lots of sentiments. Check it out when you get a chance.

Bring Happiness,
Patty Folchert

Bible Journaling by Patty Folchert

I am excited to share with you today a new way to use your scrapbooking/card making supplies. Bible Journaling is a new trend that has grown over the last couple of years and I made a couple pages to show you how easy it is to utilize your stamps to achieve a similar design. With these pages I used the new Jillibean Soup Bowl of Dreams stamp set and lots of stickers and an alphabet.

Bible Journaling by Patty Folchert

The bible verse I chose to highlight is Psalms 91:4, it has always brought me comfort to know that God is my protector and watches over me. When I create Bible journaling pages I highlight a verse on the left side with a word defined at the bottom and then I select a current Christian song that speaks to me in regards to the verse for the right side. So Kutless’ Strong Tower was the song I chose and it was then added to the right side with lyrics from their song that demonstrate to me God’s protection. God is my strong tower and a shelter over me, those words fill my heart with comfort and hope.

However you can format your pages however you like, it is about freely expressing your bible study in an art form that speaks to you.

First of all there is no right or wrong way to journal in your Bible. There are literally countless ways to do it, with journaling pens, colored pencils, paints, stickers, washi tapes, stamps, you name it and you can most likely try it. With these two pages I tried to keep it simple by using only journaling pen, stickers and stamps. Starting out I used a pencil to sketch out my ideas and plan for where I would use letter stickers. Then I did my stamping, I used gray ink and blue ink on the arrows and a combination of blue and yellow on the feathers with some yellow hearts added in at the end. The stamps allow me to add fun designs without having to draw them myself, such as the feathers, I just stamped them and then outlined them with the journaling pen. Next I adhered the letter stickers and traced over the pencil sketches with a journaling pen. I added a crown diecut to emphasize the word King and it was adhered with a tape runner. Several stickers were used as shown, a couple as words for the lyrics and a couple for decoration. That was all, think of it as doodling with a spiritual purpose.

If you think you might like Bible journaling I encourage you to give it a try. To be able to bring my spiritual self and creative self together has really been a joyful experience for me.

Blessed to Create,
Patty Folchert

Birthday Matchbox/Card by Patty Folchert

Looking for a different type of Birthday card? Try making this cute matchbox style greeting using a Jillibean favor box and brand new Jillibean Souper Celebration stamps.

Birthday Matchbox/Card by Patty Folchert

The base is a Party Playground favor box and I stamped the sentiment in blue, red and gray on a Hampton Art kraft tag.

Then I added the super cute yellow bow clip. Both of these were adhered to the top of the favor box. Then I went to work on the inside feature, the adorable alligator.

I stamped him onto white cardstock in gray ink, his crown in yellow ink and the sentiment in red ink and then colored him in with my colored pencils. Next I lined the favor box with a piece of pattern Birthday paper in yellow text. Then I cut a tab at the bottom to adhere him to the inside of the favor box. But somehow, he still needed something? Googley Eyes! Yep that was it, I had to bring him to life just a bit.

A unique way to say Happy Birthday. These would also make cute party favors for any occasion.

Celebrate Gator Style,
Patty Folchert

Hello Shaker card by Patty Folchert

Birthday cards are always needed around here, this is one created with a brand new stamp & die set from Jillibean Soup.

Hello Shaker card by Patty Folchert

The base was made with brand new Jillibean papers in floral and yellow Birthday text as shown. The card base is the small circle shaker which fits in the new “Call Me” stamp and die set. First I used the dies to cut out the hello, telephone and inside circle dial. Then stamped the inside dial onto the polka dot paper and then stamped the phone on the blue dot paper in gray ink.

Last I added the shaker fillers of jewels and sequins to the small circle shaker and attached it over the stamped dial circle. For some extra texture I machine stitched the yellow panel to the base.

A cheerful birthday card has emerged! Be sure to check out the new stamp and die sets, they are lots of fun.
