Hello Layout by designer Patty Folchert

We all have those special treats that help get us through the long cold winters. One of mine is indulging in a great cup of hot chocolate or a decadent mocha latte. So I had a little fun with this layout, sharing a photo of one of my tasty creations. The papers are from the very versatile new Yellow Saffron Soup from Jillibean Soup and the clear stamp set from that same collection.

Hello Layout by Patty Folchert

I began with a sketch I found online then I proceeded to put together my patterns. Once I had the combination I was happy with I machine stitched the diagonal pieces, including the kraft paper tape across the top. Next I stamped in black the flowers onto the background and stamped the other accents in black ink onto plain white cardstock and then fussy cut them out to add back onto the page. The “today” and “documented” stamps were stamped in black ink directly onto stickers from the coordinating sticker sheet.

The photo was double matted onto vellum and then a coordinating pattern paper. After that I began to place the cutouts and stickers around photo as shown. Placing the “hello” diecut directly onto the photo seemed to work well. My favorite part of this layout is the journaling, it makes me smile.

Savoring the Moment,
Patty

May All Your Dreams Come True card by Patty Folchert

Who out there is ready for spring? Me too, hopefully this card will put you in a spring time state of mind. These papers are from the vibrant new Jillibean Soup/Yellow Saffron Soup collection and a Hampton Art Vintologie stamp and stencil set.

May All Your Dreams Come True card by Patty Folchert

The card base pairs up a trendy teal paper and golden polka dot paper both from Yellow Saffron Soup collection. They were added to the card base with adhesive then using my sewing machine with brown thread I added the stitching. Next
using a cutout from the Soup Staples III Bite Size bit sheet I created the center panel with a bicycle stamp in brown ink. Then I stamped the sentiment onto Kraft Triangles paper in brown ink and added to cutout piece diagonally as shown with foam dots. Then I added a die-cut flower from the Pea Pods set and a blue gemstone.

It still needed something, hmmm maybe some super fun enamel stars? Yes, that was it- perfect finishing touch. Love the idea of collecting stars on a bike ride, magical I think. Actually this is really a very versatile card to have in your stash and would work for several different occasions.

Star light- Star bright,
Patty

#Friend card by designer Deborah Nolan

Hello, Stampin' Friends! Welcome back to the Hampton Art blog!
Today's card features Jillibean Soup papers from the Sightseeing Stew collection and stamps from the Spicy Social Soup collection. One thing I really love, love, LOVE about Jillibean Soup products is how well the different collections coordinate with another. It's like Garanimals for cardmakers. (Anybody out there remember Garanimals?)

#Friend card by Deborah Nolan

S  U  P  P  L  I  E  S
Cardstock: PTI, Nennah; Patterned Paper: Sightseeing Stew (Jillibean Soup); Clear Stamps: Spicy Social Soup (Jillibean Soup); Media: dye and embossing inks, white embossing powder; Embellishments: pearl, gems, Hemptique white cord; Tools: paper cutter, scoreboard, bone folder, scissors, Vagabond, dies, 1/8" hand punch
I  N  S  T  R  U  C  T  I  O  N  S
  1. Make dark blue card base for a 4.25” x 5.5” card.
  2. Die or hand cut 4" x 5.25" kraft panel and adhere to card.
  3. Cut a 1" x 4.25" strip of patterned paper and adhere to card.
  4. Hand punch a notch on each side of the card (about .25" from bottom of patterned strip).
  5. Open card and wrap cord around front to inside of card (the notches will keep the cord positioned correctly) and tie a knot; close your card.
  6. Cut a 6" piece of cord and fold it in half. At the fold, slide the cord downward under the cord that encircles the card front; this will form a loop. Bring the cord's ends over the encircling cord and through the loop. (I've been told this is called a shepherd's knot.) Trim the ends accordingly.
  7. Stamp sentiment with dark blue ink.
  8. Stamp love and heart circles with embossing ink, sprinkle with embossing powder and heat set.
  9. Hand or die cut stamped circles and adhere (use foam dimensional tape on the heart circle).
  10. Adhere pearl and gems.

Sending You Happy Thoughts part 2 by designer Patty Folchert

Here is part two of my Sending Happy Thoughts cards, these cards were created with the same basic design as the Part 1 cards. These cards feature the brand new Jillibean Soup/Yellow Saffron Soup collection and the same Hampton Art Vintologie Stamp and stencil set.

Sending You Happy Thoughts card by Patty Folchert

The basic design of both cards is two center panel mats with stamps and embellishments to coordinate with each. What I love most about the cards in this series is that they work for so many different occasions. The card above I sent out as a get well soon card and could work for male or female. The ledger cutout is from the Jillibean Soup/Soup Staples III Bite Size bits sheet. I stamped directly onto it the smiles message across the bottom and the arrows at the top and bottom. I added machine stitching and the stamped vellum heart and a fun new wood veneer from Jillibean Soup.

Sending You Happy Thoughts card by Patty Folchert

This card shows the versatility of the new Yellow Saffron Soup collection, and how cute are those umbrellas- oh my goodness. So this is another card using same stamp set and same Bite size bits sheet , but a totally different look. I stamped “hello” bubble directly onto the center panel in brown ink and also the “sending smiles” sentiment onto the vellum heart again. Then I machine stitched the center panel to the card base with white thread and added the vellum heart with a foam dot, covering it up by placing the crazy cute wood umbrella over top of it.

Hopefully this will inspire you to create using a new approach, an approach that allows you to use the same basic design to invent several different cards all at once.

Think Happy,
Patty

Family Update layout by designer Gretchen McElveen

Hi there! I’ve got a fun layout to share using a bunch of Jillibean Soup goodies!
Family Update by Gretchen McElveen

To make this layout I combined some of the Mix the Media ephemera, beanboard alphas, and one of the wire words with a sheet of the Soup Supplies III Coordinating Paper. I threw in a little red cardstock also to punch the hearts and create the strip at the top of the layout. The button, denim flags, ruler border, and the green label all came from the packs of ephemera. I love the fun bit & pieces in those packs!! Sometimes I have adhesive issues :) so I handstitched the denim flags, the button, and the wire word in a few different places to attach them to the page a bit better. Plus I like the way the handstitching looks!!

Sending Happy Thoughts - 2 ways by designer Patty Folchert

So occasionally I find value in doing several cards using the same basic design but utilizing different embellies and papers to determine the theme. Sort of an assembly line approach to get several cards made up at once. This is a part one installment of four cards I did with that idea in mind, here are the first two. They were made with brand new Jillibean Soup/ Summer Red Raspberry soup and the Soup Staples III Bite Size Bits sheet with a Hampton Art Stamp set.

Sending You Happy Thoughts by Patty Folchert

This first card ended up being a Valentine for my in-laws and I really loved how it turned out. A basic center panel with double mat design was selected then I corner punched four corners and added the first mat with machine stitching. Next I had some fun with the Soup Staples III Bite Size Bit brick cutout, perfect for a graffiti message I thought. So using a chalkboard marker I grabbed one of my Jillibean Mix the Media stencils and created the background. Next I stamped the sentiment onto vellum in brown ink and cut out in heart shape. All that was left was the wood accents of the cute mini clothespins and a brand new Jillibean mini heart from the wood veneer pack.

The next one I decided to take in a more feminine direction but using the same basic design, just added an additional border strip panel at the bottom. I also attached it at an angle for a playful touch and added a flower wood veneer with a goosebump pink center for a bit of bling. This one also has an extra stamp of smile in brown ink.

Sending Happy Thoughts by Patty Folchert

The real highlight of making these cards was getting to play with the two brand new Jillibean Soup collections, love them so much! So there you have it part one of my Sending Smiles cards, two more to come later in the month.

Smiles Sent,
Patty

Say Cheese card by Patty Folchert

Here is a trendy card created with a new Hampton Art stamp set and KI Memories Playlist collections papers and embellishments.

Say Cheese card by Patty Folchert

The card base was first covered with the black dot paper with two border strips below. The blue border strip was adhered to card with 3D foam dots. Then utilizing the stamp set theme I decided to pair it up with a camera mini placemat from Jillibean Soup and positioned it onto card as shown with 3D foam dots after I added the gray star paper as a backer. The arrow sentiment was stamped in blue onto plain white cardstock and the Say Cheese sentiment was stamped in black ink onto the striped KI Memories paper. Both were then added to the card with 3D foam dots as pictured. Last I embellished the camera center with a gemstone and added three stars as shown.

This could be a fun recognition card for any camera worthy event.

Celebrate Today card by designer Patty Folchert

One last watercolor card this month to share with you. The idea with this one was to create a background to match the image. It is a fun approach and resulted in a unique card that mimics the glow of lightbulbs. It was made with brand new Hampton Art stamps and Jillibean Soup papers.

Celebrate Today card by Patty Folchert

The center mat is watercolor paper and using the clear stamp and an acrylic block I could map out where to paint the yellow paint for the bulb strands. Then I filled in the background with the sky blue color paint. That paper was then set aside to dry. Next I stamped the sentiment flags onto different patterned papers in black ink and fussy cut out. Once watercolor was dry I carefully aligned the lightbulb stamp in black ink over the yellow painted areas to create the glow effect. Then using Birthday Bisque papers I layered the yellow, orange and blue patterns as mats onto the card base. Last I added the sentiment flags as shown using 3D foam dots for the “Celebrate” and “party” flags.

It really was a fun technique to try and could be used for any stamp in your stash. So celebrate today by giving this technique a try.

Party on,
Patty

Patchwork Thank You card by designer Patty Folchert

Say thank you with some homespun love with this patchwork style card. Brand new Hampton Art stamp set and Soup Staples III adapted very well into a “quilted” look.

Thank You card by Patty Folchert

The card base was built with three different Soup Staples III papers. The stamping was in brown ink onto the wood and grid patterned paper, then fussy cut out. To create the patchwork heart I selected several scraps from the Soup Staples III papers and layered them onto a heart cardstock template. I attached them with adhesive to the heart and then sewed the edges with brown thread. Next I layered the stamped images onto the card as shown. Last I added the white pearl to the center of the flower.

This card takes an old-fashioned method and makes it new using modern day papers; an unexpected and delightful combo is the result. This is a perfect card to say thank you from the heart.

Handmade & Heartfelt,
Patty
