Nothing But Blue Skies Card
By Melinda Spinks

A while ago I went through my stamp sets and I realised there are so many stamps I still haven't used. All the large stamps have definitely been giving a work out but it seems that the little ones were being left untouched. So I decided that I was going to make an effort to use some of the smaller pieces, but I had to work out how to make them stand out!

I drew up a simple design using a window frame and figured that if I kept the color-scheme of the card very neutral and only used black ink with the stamp then it might just work. I used distress inks to form the sky and once it had dried I stamped the little bird directly onto the distressed background.

I stamped the sentiment in black ink to begin with but it took away the focus from the little bird stamp so I decided to re-stamp it in a matching color to the sky.

Love You Card
By Melinda Spinks

I will be the first to admit that I don't often think of using alphabet stamps so I really wanted to make a conscious effort to create more designs using these versatile little stamps. How often have you gone to use your favorite set of alphabet stickers and you run out of a certain letter so can't complete exactly what you wanted to say. Well the alphabet stamps prevent that from ever happening... why didn't I realise this earlier?

I tried using my red ink but it was too bright and just not the right shade so I tried again using black and that looked too stark in contrast to the card so I added a bit of both and came up with a deep burgandy which gave me the result I was happy with. I also decided to at the last minute to emboss the letters because they just need a little bit of shine to really stand out and to tie in with the sequins a little more.
